| We were honoured to be asked again by Aerogen to create their annual awards for their ceremony in January. These were a variety of different types of awards using mixed materials and a range of sizes and styles. Prior to production, as with all of our awards, 'artwork proofs', or design drafts, were sent to and approved by the client. The 'medium' awards were created from fiber lasered black composite aluminum and acrylic, and were assembled into a sturdy trophy. We honed and refined these materials for a smooth professional finish. We created a batch of 12 of these awards. The 'high' awards we created were made from fiber lasered brass, copper which was laser-cut, polished and hammered, and a painted wooden base. Some 'premium' perpetual trophies were returned to the workshop for engraving of this year's winners, and we created some new perpetuals also. The brass outer cone was lasercut, honed and polished, then shaped into a cone by rollers and hand-working. The inner copper cone was cut and rolled in the same way. This created a layered effect from the mixed media. The round stainless steel bases were shaped and laser engraved with winner names, trophy name, and the brand's logo. Some of these bases were also created from recycled materials. Great to collab with our friends in Creative Spark Dundalk using their waterjet cutter and other metal working tools. These awards were created to budget and on time based on constraints agreed at the beginning of the project. Check out our instagram for the 'making of' videos. If you have a project requiring these techniques contact us. |
