Yesterday on May the 5th, the Dóchas Annual Conference took place in Croke Park Conference Centre. The ceremony, a gathering of international and domestic NGOs, government representatives, environmental groups, activists, civil society and private sector organisations, began with a keynote speech from President Michael D. Higgins and other leaders in international development. We produced a perpetual award for Global Citizen of the Year which was awarded to Colette Nkunda and an Innovative Programme of the Year award which was given to Camara Education. These handmade awards consisted of a stained ash base with a stainless steel name plate and a hammered and torched copper triangular plate. This design champions people who go through a lot of difficulty to achieve their goals, the torched and hammered acknowledged their persistence through difficulty. Have a look at this quick video of us producing the copper sails.
